Formed by three of the most important artists in the genre, Skream, Benga and Artwork, Magnetic Man is the first dubstep-based project to take a quantitative leap with the clear aim of reaching a mass audience.
In fact, their eponymous debut has already hit the heights of the British and European charts, thanks to anthems like “I Need Air”, “Fire” (with Ms. Dynamite), “Mad” and “Perfect Stranger”, with the new star vocalist of the UK sound, Katy B. These hits are constructed using the framework of dubstep (powerful breaks, reverberating basses, rhythmic hypnosis) and lay out a mainstream path for the “hardcore continuum," the line linking jungle and the entire rave culture with UK garage and the new forms that have taken shape around dubstep.
With a stage show in line with their status, and tracks of this calibre coming off their production line, this trio of stars will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of Sónar 2011.
